Every lawn should be aerated at least once a year
The best way to manage lawn thatch and prevent unruly overgrowth is with lawn aeration, specifically core aeration administered by Washington Tree and Lawn Care specialists.
Core aeration is a process that creates space in between the roots of grass for water, air and fertilizer to be absorbed by the soil. The soil underneath of a yard will become compacted over time because of grassroots. In order to alleviate compaction, small pieces of lawn are removed. This process is strategic and involves an expensive piece of machinery, called a lawn aerator.
